Home Brewing Kit: The Secret to a Personalized Beer

Home Brewing Kit: The Secret to a Personalized Beer
A long day of manual work, days burdened with deadlines, a week of stressful meetings and decision making, and pounding hours of intellectual discourses would always be best ended with a bottle or pint of beer. Birthdays, weddings, and gatherings of friends and kinsmen would always be merrier with beer. The joys of beer are countless. The greater would be the pleasure when they are homemade. Imagine relaxing with a pint of beer that you personally mixed with ingredients you chose to your liking. This is all possible if you have a home brewing kit.
Producing Your Own Beer at Home
There are basically three phases in producing beer at home: brewing, fermentation, and bottling. With your home brewing kit you could do the following steps in brewing:
▪ Boil water then clean or sanitize your brew pot, stirring spoon, table spoon for measurement, measuring cup, yeast starter jar, fermentor and lid, airlock, and thermometer
▪ Make the sweet pale yellow or reddish liquid malt barley extract called wort.
▪ Cool the wort at a temperature of 18 to 32 degrees Celsius
While the wort is being cooled, rehydrate the dried ale yeast by mixing pre-boiled water and yeast, and when done, cover it with plastic wrap. When the wort has cooled, you may proceed to the next phase which is fermentation. Pour the rehydrated yeast into a bucket then add the cooled wort. Siphon the mixture into the fermentor. Do not suck on the siphon because you might contaminate the mix. Seal the fermentor with the lid and store it. Use an airlock for better results. Keep them in a safe and cool place for two weeks or more as you desire. When you bottle your fermentation be sure that your bottles and caps are well-sanitized. Prepare the priming sugar that you would mix with the beer that you fermented. Add the flavor of your choice. Store your bottled beer at room temperature. After another two weeks, they are ready for consumption.
A Closer Look on Home Brewing
Beer may be brewed at home using a home brewing kit as long as the product is for personal consumption and not for commercial distribution. A lot of environmentalists in fact support home brewing of beer because it reduces the negative impacts that are brought about by mass production and distribution. Home brewing of beer is practiced by a lot of people for the following reasons:
▪ Cheaper costs
▪ Customized or personalized tastes
▪ Total control over the alcohol content
▪ The enjoyment of non-pasteurized beer
Home Brewed Live Beer
Most commercially distributed beer is pasteurized, which requires it to be cooked. When beer is cooked it loses its natural carbonation, which kills the yeast and result to improper aging. The taste, feel, and color of pasteurized beer are inferior to that which is not pasteurized or what most call as live beer. If you would like to enjoy beer at its natural state, buy a home brewing kit and brew your own.

Hangover Cure
It typically feels like a knife just grinding behind my eyes, just grinding and grinding.
-Kind of like your head?s in a vice.
-Well, I just felt like puking.
-Like death.
Hangovers- the medical term is called veisalgia- are a common problem for Americans, making it especially relevant to find an effective hangover cure.
77% have one at least once a year, and 15% get them at least monthly. The research in the latest Archives of Internal Medicine shows Hangover Prevention Formula is effective in staving off some hangover symptoms.
In the name of science, 70 medical students got drunk twice for the experiment. On one occasion they got the Hangover Prevention Formula, and on another occasion they got a dummy placebo pill. But they didn’t know on which occasion got which. And they were asked to report their symptoms the morning after drinking.
Of nine symptoms studied, three- nausea, dry mouth, and loss of appetite- were significantly lessened by Hangover Prevention Formula. There was a slight lessening of other symptoms but this was not statistically significant.
The Hangover Prevention Formula is made from the prickly pear cactus plant, and is believed to block the rise in inflammatory factors in the blood thought to be caused by overindulgence.
In fact, the study identified that a blood marker for inflammation reactive protein is elevated in those with the worst hangovers, and was lowered by Hangover Prevention Formula. The product also contains vitamin B6, which is thought to help as well.
There are substances in certain alcohols called congeners which are associated with a higher risk of hangover. You find these in alcohols like scotch, brandy, whisky, versus others like gin and vodka which are lower in congeners.
There’s also a question of whether mixing alcohols is a risk. It’s likely that one is just taking in too much alcohol, and taking in alcohol that contains congeners.
There are other keys to preventing hangovers. Dr. Marc Siegel, Professor of Internal Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine, says, “The most effective hangover cure is water, water, water. You get dehydrated, so if you drink water, you’re going to feel better. If you drink water before you drink alcohol, that’s even better.”
Water aside, maybe it’s not a panacea against that awful feeling the next day, but it’s possible Hangover Prevention Formula might, if the study is correct, help minimize your hangover symptoms.
The best hangover cure of course, certainly, is not to overindulge, but rather to drink responsibly.
THESE ARE SOME OF MY HANGOVER TIPS 1. Understand what alcohol does to your body After you ingest alcohol, your body breaks it down into (among other things) acetaldehyde, before converting it into less harmful substances. The acetaldehyde messes with your brain at the same time as a host of depleted minerals are short-circuiting your nervous system and that’s in addition to low blood sugar and the classic headache-and-dry-mouth symptoms caused by dehydration. The result: nausea, twitchy nerves, unpleasantness, pessimism, terrible brain pain, and a temporary suspension of the laws of gravity. the more you drink in a short amount of time, the more you’ll feel the alcohol. One’s weight is also a factor (the less you weigh, the more you’ll feel it), as is a genetic predisposition. Finally, the older you get, the more you’ll feel the alcohol the next morning. 2. Prepare for the night out Don’t go out on an empty stomach. Granted, it’s completely unrealistic to ask you to pause and enjoy a healthy meal full of starches and stocked with essential minerals when you’re getting ready to have a night on the town. But you should consider taking a preventative dose of the hangover cure you’ll find at the end of this article. Also, launch your night at the pub with a double order of curly fries. The moderating effect this will have on the absorption of alcohol into your bloodstream in the short term may be more important than the clogged arteries in the long term. The reason that food …

Despite all Temptations You Must Age Your Home Brew Properly

Despite all Temptations You Must Age Your Home Brew Properly
A mistake which people who are new at all to home beer making is they lose patience and drink their new beer prematurely. When you’re far too impatient and don’t permit your brew to age sufficiently you’re frequently dissatisfied with the end results. Based on the recipe you used, most home brew beers require that, following fermentation, you ought to allow the beer to age for at least two and as much as six weeks. Take note these are the minimal recommended times. Any time you allow your home brew beer age for longer periods you will get much better results.
While it looks like nothing at all is taking place during this aging period absolutely nothing could be further from the truth of the matter. Throughout aging the yeast continues to ferment together with the sugars that are in the beer following the bottling process. This naturally adds to the carbonation of your brew. This is what provides your beer bubbles. Another factor that’s going on is the yeast will begin to settle from the brew itself. This helps the taste to be smoother and further enhances the tastes of the recipe you chose to start with.
This specific maturing will vary depending on the recipe made. The cause of this is that the flavor ingredients in each recipe are distinct and require various amounts of time to fully develope. It is possible to quickly locate some beer recipes which are completely ready to consume in as few as a couple weeks and others that are recommended to age for four months.
After you’ve bottled your beers, ideally in brown or amber colored glass bottles to guard the beer from Uv radiation, you’ll will need a safe, cool, and secure place to keep them while they get older. A new home brew beer needs to be stored in a cool, darker spot where they don’t get moved around and the high temperature never ever goes over the restriction appropriate for the recipe you used. Various yeasts require different temperatures. Normally, this is 72 to 74 degrees and is not ever greater than 76 degrees.
As soon as your new brew has aged and you’re ready for the first sampling make sure to record the length of time you allowed the batch age before sampling. In fact, decent documentation about exactly what takes place with each batch you brew is a very good option. Because you try different things and have various results, you’ll build an itemized record of what works ideally for you and your home brewery. These records can help keep you from repeating errors and are also a great source for additional strategies on what to try on the next brewing escapade.
